Dino Bones Pleodustrial Average

Understanding the Average

The Dino Bones Pleodustrial Average is a number used to place a value on the relative interest in Pleo. It is calculated from numbers drawn from the PleoWorld forums pages, and is based on six indices:

AMI - Active Member Index The number of "active" members.
AMR - Active Member Ratio The percent of members that are "active".
GMR - Guest to Member Ratio The average number of guests on a given day compared to the average number of members.
NEW - New Member Count The number of new members that joined on this day.
PTR - Posts to Threads Ratio The average number of posts per thread.
PAR - Posts to Active member Ratio The average number of posts per active member.

Each of these six factors is weighted to represent a similar portion of the total average, with the amount of change of each index from day-to-day added in. The resulting formula for the average is the follwoing values added together:

• one-tenth of the number of active members (AMI) plus the change in active members since yesterday
• The percent of members that are active (AMR) multiplied times three, plus the change in the percentage since ysterday.
• The average number of guests divided by the average number of members (GMR), multiplied by two
• The number of posts divided by the number of threads (PTR), multiplied by two, plus the difference of yesterday's value and today's value multiplied by one hundred
• The number of posts divided by the number of active members (PAR), multiplied by two, plus the difference of yesterday's value and today's value multiplied by one hundred
• The number of new members (NEW)
• The number of new threads added
• The number of new posts added
